A range of resorts within a 30 minutes drive

On your doorstep is the Les Contamines ski area which offers snow-sure pistes from mid December to the end of April and has a ski school with English speaking instructors. Most of the skiing is above 1800m. The ski area has 120km of uncrowded pistes with 31 ski lifts, 44 pistes, including 3 nursery slopes in the village.

Les Contamines has very good off piste for the more adventurous skier. It also has 29 km of cross country skiing and there are eight mountain restaurants.

The Chamonix ski domaine is 30 minutes drive away including Les Grands Montets at Argentière. Local ski guides can take you on a descent of the world famous Vallée Blanche. The chalet is situated only 1 km from the main cable car and the local ski bus stops 50m away from the chalet. St. Gervais, which links with Megève is only 10 minutes drive away giving a further 300km of skiing.

St. Gervais access into Megève and Chamonix ski areas

The 300km of the Megève ski area is accessible from the Le Bettex lift in Saint Gervais, just 5 miles away from Les Contamines. As you enter the outskirts of Saint Gervais, turn left to the direction of Megève and the Le Bettex lift lies about 500m after that.

In addition to being able to access the chic town of Megève itself, it is also possible to ski to the little hamlet of Saint Nicolas de Véroce. This beautiful hamlet has some of the most spectacular views over Mont Blanc and down into Les Contamines.

Another landmark that is interesting to ski to from Megève is Mont Joly. This 2,500m peak dominates the western side of Les Contamines and offers views down into the village and over to Mont Blanc.

Saint Gervais also provides access into Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, with a total of 420km of pistes.

Chamonix

Chamonix is about a 30 minute drive from Les Contamines. Chamonix has massive amounts of skiing, at the highest altitudes in Europe. A quick way to connect into this ski area is to drive to Les Houches, about 20 minutes, or to take the Tramway du Mont Blanc, up the mountain from Saint Gervais.

Argentière is a little further past Chamonix and is maybe a 40 minute drive from Les Contamines.

Hauteluce

Hauteluce is the gateway from Les Contamines into the Les Saisies ski domaine. From Les Contamines, ski up and over the "Col du Joly" down into the hamlet of Bellevile. From here it is possible to take the ski bus for a couple of kilometeres to Hauteluce and then connect into Les Saisies. Don't get stuck there as its about a 45km drive around the mountains to get back!
