Urban Truant is pleased to offer a range of RYA Theory Certificates.
We soon recognised that many people are too busy to commit to a regular evening for 22 weeks, or take time out for a 6-day intensive course to study for a theory certificate.
We offer "bespoke" training for the following certificates:
- Day Skipper Theory
- Coastal / Yachtmaster Theory
- SRC (Short Range Certificate) VHF Radio
All contact time arranged to suit you
Urban Truant offers tailored one-to-one or small group tuition. The idea is straightforward. You tell us
how quickly you would like to complete the course. We then spend an afternoon, a day or evening with you to set up the initial work structure and basic course syllabus. After that, you tell us when you’re free to meet and progress with your tuition. In between sessions, we’ll set homework. The final assessment(s) will be held in exam conditions at a time to suit you and at a suitable location.
Includes unlimited help via email and webinars to recap core subjects
Urban Truant is happy to work to short-notice availability and depending on geographic location we can meet at your house, work, our boat or our office. What’s more, as it’s
personal tuition, we can progress through concepts you grasp quickly, and spend more time on areas you aren’t so comfortable with. It’s quite simply a course tailored to meet your needs.
The price of this service is £600 per person (discounted to £550 pp for two
or more people). If you would like Urban Truant to come to you, then depending on your geographic location, travelling expenses may need to be charged. Contact us now for further information about this unique service.
Ad Hoc Tuition?
If you're not looking to complete an RYA Certificate, you might like to spend time with an instructor either getting a practical overview of what is involved
in sailing navigation, or brushing up on specific subjects. Urban Truant has instructors who can come to your house (or you can come to us). This costs £30 per hour (plus expenses if necessary).
But don't just take our word fort it....
"When we graduated from a day boat to a yacht we knew that we could benefit from sound tuition on navigation, pilotage, meteorology and the other aspects of the RYA Day Skipper
curriculum. With three young children and busy work schedules the 22 week course formats were unsuitable. Then we spoke to Urban Truant and were delighted to find that the tuition could be tailored to our schedule. This has been ideal for us and we been able to interleave practical experience with the theoretical instruction. The tuition was thorough, complete, flexible and at our pace. We recommend Urban Truant to anyone."
